Tell me a little bit about your character Carley and what did you relate to about her when you first read the script and then doing the role?

Snow: I really liked the character of Carley because I felt that she was really intelligent, not just book smart. She’s studying to be a lawyer and she was very driven. There was also a lot of her common sense and her ability to think about the situation, which is something that I gravitated towards. I love female roles that are smart. It’s just interesting how she approaches trying to get out of that terrible situation she’s in. I think that getting to play somebody that wasn’t all gussied up was great and I was weirdly excited about never having any hair and makeup work done. I mean basically I didn’t have any hair and makeup work done on me throughout the whole movie. I just kind of woke up and put my hair in a ponytail and put on mascara. We just did it and I wanted people to see me in that way where it wasn’t ever about what it looks like. It was about this real girl and this real story. I think the way that she saw the humanity in Dre and the way that she approached the situation by using his emotions I think is really something that I connected to because I sometimes do the same thing. I guess that’s why some actors use motions.

You’re also working with Love Is Louder.
Yeah, it’s a movement/charity I created a year and a half ago. People can go to it at LoveIsLouder.com. It’s a charity based on bringing down the negative voices that people create either with themselves or other people. It all started because of the recent suicide that happened to Corey Haim. It’s about supporting the mistreated and those who feel alone. I created it with the Jet Foundation and its going really well so it’s a really great movement that I’m really proud of, and I think it’s helping people, so it’s great.

’1600 Penn’ Recasts A Role
Written by Colleen on April 05, 2012 • Leave a message? / No Comments

EXCLUSIVE: There is a casting change on the NBC White House family comedy pilot 1600 Penn following the project’s table read yesterday. The role of the President’s eldest daughter Becca is being recast with Martha MacIsaac (Greek). Brittany Snow was originally tapped for the role. The producers opted to make a creative change with a younger and darker-looking Becca after the table read as the original character and Snow appeared not to mesh well with the rest of the family, including in physical resemblance with the other siblings. Coincidentally, MacIsaac also played a character named Becca in Superbad. Co-created by Josh Gad, Jason Winer and Jon Lovett and directed by Winer, 1600 Penn is a dysfunctional family comedy set at the White House, where the president’s (Bill Pullman) out-of-control oldest son (Gad) returns home and becomes not only the family’s biggest liability but also the glue holding everyone together. The pilot also co-stars Amara Miller as the younger daughter and Jenna Elfman as the First Lady and the kids’ stepmother. Snow just wrapped the feature Pitch Perfect. MacIsaac is with APA.

Brittany Snow kicks off U-M’s 10th annual Depression on College Campuses conference

ctress Brittany Snow (Guiding Light/Harry’s Law) kicked off the University of Michigan’s 10th annual Depression on College Campuses conference on Wednesday afternoon at the Rackham Auditorium (915 East Washington).

Snow’s message was that love is louder than the bullying and disrespect that many young people face

he Love Is Louder campaign emerged in September 2010 after a number of teens committed suicide after being bullied.

Courtney Knowles, director of Love Is Louder, a project of the Jed Foundation and MTV, said that the whole thing came together in about two days after Snow expressed interest in becoming a face of the anti-bullying movement.

Although Snow didn’t fit into any of the typical groups children tend to tease — she wasn’t fat or gay or a minority, and in fact was a successful actor on “Guiding Light” — was still bullied. And it still hurt.

Snow had made a promise to herself that someday she would shun the veneer of perfection that comes with red carpet appearances and glossy magazine covers. That she would let the world know that she once faced the same issues millions of teens face every day, and that better days are ahead.

That doesn’t mean the Love Is Louder philosophy is without its limitations. One parent of an Ann Arbor middle school student who attended the talk said: “I can love away the bullying, I can’t love away the depression.”
